The premiere men's roller derby team in the city of Portland!
Welcome to the official PMRD newsletter for the month of August, 2010.
Portland Men's Roller Derby is dedicated to promoting the sport of roller derby in Portland, Oregon. We are composed of men from a wide variety of backgrounds including coaches, referees, amateur skaters, fans, and veteran players. Our sport and style of play mirrors current Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) standards including rules, game play, conduct and skill.
Portland Men's Roller Derby is pleased to announce Quadtastrophe, a 3-day celebration of roller skating in Portland, OR. Quadtastrophe is an informal series of fun skating events that will take place across the city of Portland Friday through Monday in the last weekend of August.
For a brief list of events check out the Preliminary Schedule posted on the PMRD Forum.
Quadtastrophe coincides with the Rose City Rollers' "Derby Daze" weekend event, and is the free, open alternative to Derby Daze! Whether you're a skater that couldn't get tickets, a derby widow dragged to Portland by your derby girl, a referee who can only stand a couple hours of split-pack-call arguments, a veteran WFTDA derby skater who doesn't need another blocker workshop, or just someone looking to tear up some asphalt -- Quadtastrophe is for everyone!
Quadtastrophe is open to all ages and skill levels.
This event series kicks off at Oaks Park Skate Rink for Jam Skate on Friday, August 27th. Come join us! Check out Quadtastrophe on Facebook and learn more in the Quadtastrophe forum.
MISADVENTURES IN MEN'S ROLLER DERBY BLOGPMRD skater Buzzed Aldrin has been blogging about his experiences in men's roller derby. Ever wonder what we do at practice, now's your chance to read up.

Oaks Park hangar is located at 7805 Southeast Oaks Park Way, Portland, OR. Look for the big green building directly across the parking lot from the Oaks Park skating rink.
PMRD also has several outdoor skate sessions during the week, and members of our team regularly attend open skates at Oaks Park rink. Please refer to our website calendar, Facebook page or twitter feed for weekly notifications.
Join Portland Men's Roller Derby at Oaks Park Skate Rink on Saturdays from 5pm-7pm. The rink has a smooth wood floor that feels great beneath your wheels, and for two hours we will sweat, skate and talk derby!
This practice is open to everyone (regardless of gender) for a $5 drop-in fee, and skate rentals are available. This is a no-contact practice, so there will be no impact -- except on your cardiovascular system and your endorphins!
Oaks Park rink holds an "Intro To Roller Derby" class every Saturday from 11:30am - 1:00pm for only $5!
New skaters are encouraged to attend these classes, and gear is available for rental -- so you can "try before you buy." The classes are taught by current members of the Rose City Rollers and Oaks staff. Members of PMRD regularly attend these classes, so come on by and give it a shot!
